I had a Bovril at half-time Saturday. Lovely stuff to warm the cockles. The woman behind the counter had no idea what I was ordering, so can't be that popular. I doubt they have Bovril where she comes from anyway.

Re: Bovril
I do like it, but on bread, not as a drink.

The drink's a bit like pouring boiling water on a tablespoon of marmalade - a little bit mad

Can we agree that both Bovril and Marmite are far superior to Vegemite. Are there any other pretenders to the crown?

I like Bovril as a gravy, but when it comes to a winter drink it's an oxo cube in a cup of hot water for me.

When the mad cow disease story broke in the mid nineties I was convinced I was going to go down with it due to the amount of dodgy burgers I'd eaten at west ham in the last decade or more.

I realise now I needn't had worried, they were almost certainly 100% horse burgers.
